Our Turmeric Smoothie Ingredients

With a whole load of fibre and vitamin C, the ingredients in our turmeric smoothie will provide you with a real health kick.

Carrots

Crunchy, sweet and filled with a whole host of nutrients, carrots are one of our favourite vegetables. Often claimed to be one of the healthiest vegetables on earth, carrots are packed with vitamin A, with over 300% of the RDA in just 100g!

Also known as retinol, vitamin A is a fat-soluble vitamin (meaning it can be stored in the body) that has a number of important functions, including:

  • Helping to fight illness and infections by supporting the immune system
  • Supporting eye health and vision (we’ve all been told they help us see in the dark!)
  • Potentially lowering the risk of certain cancers
  • Maintaining skin health
  • Helping to maintain a healthy reproductive system in both men and women

In addition to their high vitamin A content, carrots are also fabulous sources of:

  • The antioxidant, beta-carotene
  • Vitamin C
  • Vitamin K
  • Potassium

Apples

You know what they say - an apple a day keeps the doctor away. But what exactly makes apples so good for you?

Filled with fibre, apples are great for keeping you full and satisfied. Additionally, they contain a type of fibre called pectin, which acts as a prebiotic to promote a healthy gut. In terms of vitamins and minerals, apples are high in potassium, beta carotene, as well as containing vitamin C, folate, magnesium and some calcium and phosphorus.

Adding a natural sweetness to this smoothie, apples negate the need for any additional sugar or sweetener.

Turmeric

Ah turmeric, the star ingredient in this delicious turmeric smoothie. Boasting a huge number of health benefits, turmeric is the perfect addition to any healthy diet. Some of the key benefits include reducing inflammation and boasting incredible antioxidant properties, which can help to alleviate a number of health conditions (as well as maintaining general health!).
